On March 2 the small southern Indiana towns of Henryville, Chelsea and New Pekin were devastated by a cluster of EF-4 tornadoes packing winds of up to 200 miles per hour.

Draper employees passed the hat and donated $2500 to assist the victims of this terrible tragedy. Draper matched the employees’ contribution and mailed a check to the American Red Cross on March 9 in the amount of $5000.

Thanks to all Draper employees for your generous contributions to fellow Hoosiers in their time of need.

About John Pidgeon

My name is John Pidgeon and I am Draper’s president.

I was born to this job. Draper was founded by my great grandfather Luther Draper. My grandfather Elmer Pidgeon and my father Luther Pidgeon have served as Draper’s president.

My career here dates from the summer of 1957 when I began mowing the company lawn. The pay was good – $3.00 for four hours work. My job description and compensation have improved moderately since then.

I will be writing from time to time on matters of general interest.

  1. Debbie Searcy says:

This is only 1 reason why I love working here!! Thank you Draper for matching our contribution.

  2. Beki Chambers says:

I spearheaded the collection for this effort, and was surprised at how easy it was to get the employees to hand over their money. They knew it was a good cause, and were eager to donate. Not only was Draper extremely generous, but the employes from every department were more than willing to share with our neighbors. We all know it could have been us. A big THANKS to all the employees and to Draper for making it easier to help!
