culusWhat is UL Listing and why does it matter? That’s a loaded question. UL (Underwriters Laboratory) states that “UL Listing means that UL has tested representative samples of the product and determined that it meets UL’s requirements. These requirements are based primarily on UL’s published and nationally recognized Standards for Safety.”

There are no laws specifying that a UL Mark must be used. However, many municipalities have regulations that require such testing. We as a manufacturer, never know when UL (or a similar mark) will be required. In fact, a job could be at the final walk through stages and a local inspector can suddenly hold up completion by demanding UL certification. We’ve lived this scenario more times than we care to discuss…can you sense my frustration?

Submitting our projector lifts for certification has been a long, arduous process. Our Micro Projector Lift has been UL certified for several years. Our Scissor Lift first became UL listed as a complete assembly in late 2011, after being at UL for around three years and of course, right before we completely redesigned it. Back to the drawing board! So we resubmitted the product, and finally, voila! I am pleased to announce that our Scissor Lift is the first and only scissor lift certified to the new UL 2442 and CSA C22.2 No. 60065-03 standards.  In fact it is the only projector lift on the market certified to these new standards. Pretty impressive!

Our scissor lift is the best in the industry. Our redesign in 2011 allows complete access to all the electronics from below, and the Scissor Lift SL lowers up to 144” of drop fit in a 24” x 24” grid ceiling while still lifting 100lbs. Our patented third scissor keeps the lift stable as it descends to a service position of up to 336”.  Yep that’s right…up to 28′. And the SLX version can accommodate the largest projectors, up to 350 lbs. Offered in both black and white, the lift can easily fit design décor too.  The UL listing only proves our dedication to high production standards and finished goods quality.

Thanks to our engineers for their hard work and diligence!
