As many of our faithful blog readers already know, I was chosen by CEDIA as one of this year’s #CEDIATweeps. The #CEDIATweeps are folks who are active on, and supposedly good at, social media. It’s our collective job to promote the CEDIA Expo, coming up in Dallas in October.

The 2015 #CEDIATweeps (from left to right): Steve Greenblatt as Superman; John Sciacca as Green Arrow; Ashley Daigneault as Captain Marvel, yours truly as Shazam, Heather Sidorowicz as Catwoman, Ric Johnson as the Incredible Hulk, Todd Anthony Puma as Wolverine, Matt Scott as Thor, Bruce Garipay as Aquaman, and Rich Fregosa as Green Lantern.

There are many highlights for Draper at this year’s show—including showing some of our TecVision grey surfaces under projection, introducing our new and smaller Access FIT ceiling recessed screen to this market, and other stuff, too! I won’t get into too much detail—this is Amy Madden’s first CEDIA as Draper’s Residential Market Manager, and I wouldn’t want to steal her thunder. But stay tuned for a blog post from Amy sometime before the show starts October 14 in Dallas!

As one of the #CEDIATweeps I am asked to write about why people should go to CEDIA, and what all they can experience while there. In the past I have done this using the concept of zombies, and even picked up the old guitar once.

Today I want to take one of my typically off-balance views by using superheroes as the peg upon which to hang my hat.

How many of you out there remember the Superfriends and their “Hall of Justice?” Even if you aren’t old enough to remember that, most of us are familiar with the concept of superhero hideouts and headquarters, like the Batcave, Avengers’ Mansion, the Baxter Building, or the Fortress of Solitude.

Now make a leap with me. Come on, it’s easy! I know it’s easy to see the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas as just a giant trade show venue with lots of people, lots of booths, and lots of walking. But instead, I want you to think of it as the temporary headquarters for home technology’s version of the Legion of Superheroes (or insert your favorite superhero team name here): the #CEDIATweeps!
