Focused on innovative solutions. That’s more than just a tagline for us. It’s how we approach every day, every task. And it’s how we spent last week at the CEDIA Expo in San Diego: focusing on innovation.

In the past, we’ve shown a wide range of AV and shading solutions at CEDIA. At this year’s gathering of the custom and home technology community, we narrowed that focus to designing a high-quality projection experience, especially in ambient light conditions, and custom audiovisual solutions with industry partners.

Here are a few highlights from our time there:

The Silent Partner makes some noise.
The projectors of today are fantastic in resolution, but they can generate a lot of heat and the fan noise is not fully masked. These can have a negative impact on home cinema and media room experiences. Our solution is the Silent Partner.

The Silent Partner is a hush box with a convoluted exhaust airflow path and acoustic insulation foam to reduce projector noise. A thermostatic fan control cools the projector.

We had excellent feedback on the Silent Partner from dealers, installers, and end users. Booth visitors were especially positive about the option to mount it on our Scissor Lift to conceal the unit when not in use. It was also named an Excite Award winner by Technology Integrator magazine.

TecVision and ambient light rejection.
Instead of showing several viewing surfaces, we focused on a single screen with TecVision CS1000X ALR, one of our ambient light rejecting solution. CS1000X ALR rejects 82 percent of ambient light, so it’s ideal when there’s high ambient light with no way to control it. We demonstrated this by projecting onto the screen under full show lighting, unlike our competitors who continued to show their products in light-controlled environments. That was not lost on visitors to our booth.

TecVision CS1000X ALR has a half gain angle of 20 degrees and is recommended for viewing within 30 to 35 degrees off-axis. But it was pointed out to us that our real-world demo showed that the screen still looks great well outside that viewing cone.

The power of partnerships.
This was the first time we introduced our custom audiovisual solution capabilities to the CEDIA channel. We partnered with Leyard® and Planar to design LED Mounting Solutions for the Leyard® TVF Series video wall. Visitors to the Leyard® and Planar booth were impressed by our ADA-compliant solution’s independent X-Y-Z adjustments for fast and flawless installation. Our custom mounting solution works with free-standing, flying, and curved video walls.
