InfoComm Connected 2020 broke new ground for the AV industry. It was the first time that the Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association (better known as AVIXA) held its InfoComm trade show online.

Overall, most participants and observers have deemed the show a resounding success. Throughout the three-day show our AV team was kept busy with virtual meetings and online booth tours.

Draper used InfoComm Connected 2020 to stress our wide AV capabilities, and to introduce two brand new solutions to the market that will make the lives of designers and installers easier.

Perfecting your projection.
Projection technology has improved drastically so it can be successful in more spaces than ever before. Along with that has come a need in the market for a surface-mounted screen that looks great even when it’s not in use. That’s why the new Acumen™, introduced at InfoComm 2020, was designed with maximum versatility in mind.

All Draper free-hanging and tab-tensioned viewing surfaces including TecVision® are available with the Acumen, so you can enhance contrast, brighten the image, or reject ambient light depending on room and lighting conditions.

The Acumen is our most versatile projection screen yet. It is available up to 18 feet wide and with a variety of motor options. The optional rechargeable battery motor goes up to 500 cycles between charges, in sizes to 10’ wide. It is also available as a manual screen.

The Acumen received a Best of Show award from AV Technology Magazine.

During the show we also presented options for dealing with projection with high ceilings using the Ropewalker and Scissor Lift projector lifts.

By integrating a screen and lift together in one ceiling-recessed box, the Ropewalker eliminates the need for extra black drop between the screen and tall ceilings. The viewing surface unrolls from an inner case high above the audience’s line of sight and the entire screen is lowered to “show” position up to 34’ (10 m) below.

The Scissor Lift SL and SLX each features three sets of scissors for lateral and front-to-back projector stability. The SL lowers projectors up to 100 pounds as far as 12 feet below the lift. The SLX lowers projectors weighing as much as 350 pounds up to 28 feet.

Making LED/LCD mounting easier than ever.
Video wall installation can easily be derailed. Walls that aren’t flat, floors that are uneven, and tight installation deadlines are just a few of the headaches installers face. During InfoComm Connected 2020, Draper exhibited two solutions designed to make installers’ lives easier.

Draper designed the all-new Foundation™ Mount System specifically with installers in mind. Key-hole attachment on the wall brackets let a single installer mount an entire horizontal rail at once, and hanger clips let one installer easily mount the vertical rails. Notches on the sides of each upright let you place your laser level right on the mount for precise leveling. Other features allow for fast, precise plumb adjustments and perfect alignment of the LED cabinets. The optional trim attaches quickly and easily using powerful rare earth magnets.

Angled mounting slots minimize the amount of contact between LED modules and a spring-loaded mounting stud helps keep LED modules safe during installation.

The Foundation received a Best of Show award from Sound & Video Contractor magazine.

We also exhibited the Draper® Mount Interface for the Barco UniSee®, a simple-to-install wall-mounting solution for installation onto various wall construction types. The built-in precision alignment feature provides precise location of the Barco UniSee® wall crosses, eliminating the need for additional wall-mounting hardware or substrates. The mount interface is lightweight and simple to use. It can be installed by one person, reducing on site installation costs. The configurable design accommodates any Barco UniSee® video wall array size and can be combined with the Draper® SmartTrim™ for UniSee® trim kit for an all-in-one solution for any Barco UniSee® installation.
