Wednesday, Greenbuild 2014 opens its doors. Clint Childress (LEED®AP), Draper’s Green Buildings Coordinator, will head up our presence. Below is Clint’s preview of the show.

Later this week, I’ll be off to New Orleans with several Draper colleagues for the 2014 Greenbuild Conference and Expo, the number one show dedicated to the sustainable building market. Although Draper offers “green” AV and gymnasium solutions, our main focus at this show is typically solar control (interior and exterior window treatments), and this year is no different.

After 112 years producing window shades, at last year’s Greenbuild Draper introduced a new line of solar control products for exterior use. These exterior solar shading systems work with our high performance interior systems to create dynamic solutions for daylighting control, energy performance, occupant comfort, and more, that are only available from Draper. In fact, in temperate climates, the most efficient operable shading systems use both exterior shading in the cooling season and interior shading during the heating season.

Our FlexLouver Rack Arm System and Omega venetian blinds reduce heat and light that can get into a building by stopping it before it hits the window (although both can be used on the interior as well as the exterior of the glazing).

Another new product, the FlexShade Zip, provides an exterior window shade that stands up to the weather. In wind tunnel tests up to 90 mph, the fabric remained in its side channels, and the bottom rail did not lift. All of these products have been very well received, and while we will be showing them again at this year’s Greenbuild, we’re also showing even more examples of our innovation.

One request we had almost immediately upon introducing the FlexShade Zip was to offer a light-blocking version for interior use. Our engineers set to work and we will be showing off the resulting product in booth 839 at Greenbuild 2014. Be sure to stop by and check it out.

We’ll also be showing the unique exterior s_enn® and s_onro® shading systems. The s_enn® is a stainless steel shade with a modern architectural look. The s_onro® is a roller shutter system. Combined with our custom shading solutions, you can see why we’re excited about Greenbuild and expecting to be busy.

The Flexwave light shelf will also be in our booth. This interior light shelf can be integrated with a roller shade, allowing natural light to penetrate deeper into a space. This product pushes the envelope of interior light shelf design!

Another reason to stop by and talk with us is our ability to develop custom solutions. We know all sun control problems are not equal, so why should the solutions be the same? Our approach with custom solutions is this: You have a problem, and we will take a fresh look and develop a design specific to your need. The solution might be small or it might be big. We want to discuss your options with you.

We’re also partnering with Mermet to introduce some exciting new shade fabrics exclusively in our booth. First and foremost is what I might call the next generation of our GreenScreen® Revive fabric. GreenScreen® Evolve brings the same sustainability credentials as Revive—recycled and recyclable, contains low VOCs, and PVC-free—but has the more attractive look and feel of traditional basketweave fabrics.

We’ll also be showing Mermet’s T Screen with KOOLBLACK™ Technology. KOOLBLACK™ incorporates reflective properties into dark color screen fabrics, providing excellent contrast for a clear & sharp view through, color coordinated exterior building design, comfortable work environments and maximized energy savings through reduced cooling costs.

To see Evolve® and T Screen with KOOLBLACK™ Technology, plus our great interior and exterior solar control solutions, visit us in booth 839 Wednesday, October 22 and Thursday October 23.

See you in New Orleans!
