Last fall we redesigned our tab-tensioning system and completely revolutionized the product line. We were recognized for our innovation at InfoComm this year by System Contractor News. We celebrated 110 years of innovation at InfoComm this year, so the award was the perfect culmination to a great show.

We are often skeptical of these awards. They have been set up in the past where the same person could vote as many times as he/she wants. We were pleasantly surprised to see that the voting was tracked via email addresses this year. It makes us feel that the award is more meaningful.

But we did not do this for awards and accolades. We did it because we are committed to innovation. Let me give you a run down on the changes. In the words of our President, John Pidgeon, in a past blog, “All of our tab-tension screen surfaces are now cut on CNC controlled cutting tables, including the tabs. The tabs are then folded to the backside of the screen and RF welded.” No more adhesive necessary! The result is a stronger tab, with no possibility of separating because of adhesive failure or stickiness from the adhesive migrating.

The system is not only better but much more attractive. Making a tab-tensioned screen in this manner eliminates the puckering that has characterized the edges of tab-tensioned screens in the past. We even showed screens with both types of tabs in our booth. It is so easy to understand the quality once you see the difference. We are so confident in this new design that we now warrant all Draper tab-tension screens against tab failure for five years from date of manufacture.
