Tisa Burns is this week’s “Why Draper? subject. Although Tisa has been in Draper’s AV department for nearly eight years, she is a relatively new face and voice to our dealers.
How did you come to be working at Draper?
I moved back to Richmond from Arizona and started looking for a job. I went to the unemployment office and took the Work Keys Test. I was called by an employment agency in Rushville to come interview with them and then they sent to me interview at Draper. I started at Draper as a temp and a permanent position came open. I applied for that and the rest is history. I was an order clerk for the audiovisual department first and got to know the product quite well. I then transitioned over to inside audiovisual sales. I back-up the Southwest and Northeast territories, working with both Randy Reece and Dave Trapani (our Regional Managers). I’ve been here for close to eight years now.
What do you like best about your job?
I love the people that I work with. I could not ask for a better group of co-workers/friends. I am truly blessed to work for such a great company. The work is challenging, but Draper is great about offering training. We are constantly kept up to date, not only on our products, but AV technology in general.
Funniest moments here?
I think one of the funniest moments that I can remember was when we were having a tornado drill. We were all heading down to the basement except for one of my co-workers, she was heading outside thinking we were having a fire drill, not a tornado drill. I had to remind her that we live in Indiana and not Kansas. I don’t think going outside in a tornado would’ve been a smart idea…ha!
What do you like to do in your time away from Draper?
I love to sing. I sing karaoke and I also sing at my church regularly. I even got to sing in one of my Draper friend’s weddings! I am an avid sports fan. I love watching football. The Packers are my favorite team. I also like baseball. I am a Reds fan. I still think that they need to let Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame. I love camping (although the way we camp it’s probably better called glamping), playing pool (I even shoot in tournaments), hanging out with my friends and spending time with my family and my boyfriend.
Tell us about your family.
I have two brothers and a sister, who have blessed me with seven awesome nieces and nephews. My parents are both still around and very active in our community. I have a boyfriend I am crazy about. We are just taking our time and seeing where it may lead us.
