Early in his career, Chad posed for the cover of a Draper gym equipment catalog.

This week’s Why Draper subject is Chad Tabor. Chad is our Regional Sales Manager for Texas. That’s kind of fitting, considering Texas is such a big state: Chad, a former Indiana high school and college basketball player (you wouldn’t know it but he is a member of the Wabash College Athletics Hall of Fame),  stands at 6’5″.

How did you come to be working at Draper?
My brother worked at Draper as a Regional Sales Manager so I already knew about Draper. I heard nothing but good things about Draper so I interviewed for an opening I saw in the paper and 15 years later I am still here.

What do you like best about your job?
I like the challenge of competing against all of our competitors. Each market has a different set of opportunities which can change daily so you must always be on top of your game.

What are some of your funniest moments at Draper?
Funniest moment at Draper is one I can’t share details…but it was hilarious. It involved a joke on Stuart Milligan at InfoComm his first year attending the show … we played an initiation joke on him that was priceless. It was a harmless joke but still one of the funniest moments I’ve had at Draper.

What do you like to do in your time away from Draper?
Golf, basketball, coaching my kids in basketball, and watching my children’s sporting events. Both of my kids are very involved in athletics so we are always attending some type of sporting event–it seems like every night.

Tell us about your family
I have been blessed with two beautiful children. My daughter’s name is Cameron and she is 14 years old. She is very involved in athletics as she plays basketball, fast pitch softball, and volleyball. My son’s name is Derek and he is 11 years old. He is an avid golfer and basketball player. I caddied for him in his first three golf tournaments this year and he did really well and I enjoyed caddying for him. I’m most proud of my kids for their efforts/success in school … so far they have done well academically and have been well behaved. Both of my children are awesome and I really enjoy spending time with them when I’m not traveling.

My beautiful wife’s name is Amy. We were high school sweethearts and have been married for 15 years. She is the greatest thing that ever happened to me and don’t know what I would do without her. She’s the best.
