The AV business is extremely competitive. Despite that, however, people in this industry are like family. A few days ago we received the sad news that we had lost a member of the AV family.
Mike Starr, VP – Senior Manager and head of CitiBank’s audio visual team for many years, passed away Thursday morning, June 4.
We first met Mike when he was in charge of AV services at AT&T Hickory Ridge Conference Center in Chicago. He had an urgent need to replace all of the rear projection screens throughout the facility over a very tight Christmas holiday. We worked closely with Mike and Rick Nelson (United Visual then, AVI/SPL now) on the project and through a lot of teamwork and careful coordination we were able to finish the project ahead of schedule. From there, Mike went on to Citibank where he continued to specify and support installation of hundreds of Draper products. Along with being a great all around person, Mike was an excellent source of information on emerging technologies and someone who could be counted on to provide sound feedback on new product ideas. Mike was a true industry professional, a friend of Draper, and a good friend of mine … he will be missed.
