Monday, April 4, Draper will be featured on Lifetime Television®. No, we aren’t featured in a movie of the week event; rather, our products are among those being featured on a program called Office Spaces.

Draper's own Matt Schultz appears on the program to explain the choices for this particular space.

Hosted by Interior Designer Kalyn Rothaus, Office Spaces is focusing on transforming an existing warehouse space into new corporate headquarters for BrandStar, a Florida-based educational television production company.

Monday’s episode featuring Draper projection screens and window shades concentrates on giving the company’s conference room a technological makeover. It’s the place for staff meetings and client presentations, so BrandStar wants the conference room to wow with the latest AV and touchscreen control technology.

“My design plan also calls for custom made projection screens and roller shades for privacy,” according to Rothaus. “Everything needs to be controlled by one device so my design challenge was to find a company that could provide custom options for hide away screens and for privacy at the press of a button.”

Rothaus worked with Draper’s Contract Regional Sales Manager for the southeastern United States, Matt Schultz.

“For the shades, they were looking for ways to completely darken the space,” Matt says, “but also have the shades hooked into the AV system, so the shades were operated from that system without a wall switch.”

In the end, the shades and screens worked beautifully with the control system, and everyone was pleased with the end result.

Draper recommended coupled Motorized FlexShades with motors featuring a built-in encoder and controller intelligent operation. The motors have both a data cable and high voltage cable; the data cable ties into the control system and the high voltage ties into power.

To maintain privacy, the shades were provided with Mermet’s Flocke, a 100% PVC-free blackout shade fabric.

“I thought everything worked out well,” Matt says, “and they are able to operate the shades in the manner they requested.”

Meanwhile, Draper also provided an Edgeless Clarion permanently tensioned projection screen, along with an Access/Series V motorized screen for the large technology room. Matt white XT1000V was the fabric chosen for the project, which was another reason for providing light control through touchscreen and also through blackout shades.

The Edgeless Clarion is 5 feet high by 20 feet wide, and is used for edge blending among other things.

The entire system is controlled via a Leviton system, which posed no problem for Draper. Our screens and shades, while available with Draper-exclusive controls, are designed to be able to tie in to any control system. That way integrators aren’t tied down to a specific control manufacturer when they work with Draper.

The episode featuring Draper—show 108, “Conference Rooms-Technology and Privacy,” will air Monday, April 4 at 7:30 am (EST/PST) on Lifetime Television®. It will also be available for viewing on the show’s website after the program airs on Lifetime.
