We have a confession: We won’t be displaying our best-in-show winner at CEDIA 2017.
We introduced TecVision CH1200X ALR to rave reviews earlier this summer at InfoComm. And though it received two best in show awards (one from Sound & Video Contractor magazine and the other from AV Technology magazine), we have decided not to show it at CEDIA. Here’s why….
The grey viewing surface rejects 80 percent of ambient lighting not being produced by the projector, making it ideal for environments with high ambient lighting and controlled viewing angles. While at InfoComm, CH1200X ALR also impressed with high contrast, excellent black retention, and a 1.2 gain that helps brighten the image.
Based on the reaction at InfoComm, we knew this solution was a winner. But we asked ourselves: could it be better?
Research and development never stops in the Draper lab. Not only do we have the ability to create new formulations, but we can improve existing ones, as well. With tweaks in the chemistry we can improve a viewing formulation’s attributes—including contrast.
And that brings us to our plans for CEDIA. We won’t be exhibiting TecVision CH1200X ALR after all. Instead, we’ll be exhibiting CS1200X ALR. The CH1200X ALR name represented a high-contrast viewing surface—that’s what the “H” meant. It’s our second-highest designation for contrast; only “S,” for superior, is better.
Nothing else about the formulation has changed. CS1200X ALR still rejects 80% of ambient light. It’s still available in optically seamless sizes up to 67 feet wide. Just like the rest of Draper’s TecVision line, CS1200X ALR is 8K-ready and Imaging Science Foundation-certified for color accuracy, so users won’t notice the blue tints present in images on many other ambient light rejecting screens. It is also available as a Nanoperf surface for acoustical transparency.
And, thanks to the change from “H” to “S,” the viewing surface has superior contrast that meets or exceeds that offered by any competitive viewing surface.
Experience the difference! See TecVision CS1200X ALR in booth #4229 at CEDIA 2017, September 7-9 in San Diego. You can also find more information about our complete line of TecVision viewing surfaces at draperinc.com/go/TecVision.htm.
