“We are all in.” It’s the theme of the Greenbuild 2017 Expo, that has a goal of “transforming the market and changing the way the people all over the world experience buildings,” according to the show’s website.
Draper shares that goal, and we will be demonstrating just how we accomplish it during the expo on November 8-9 in Boston.
We will be highlighting several projects in our booth, including:
- Wilshire Grand Center. This 73-story skyscraper in downtown Los Angeles is America’s tallest building west of the Mississippi River. Draper designed custom large-scale Venetian blinds with 12 inch and 6 inch louvers. They are in use in the building lobby, and in the three-story sky lobby of the Intercontinental Hotel.
- Canadian Parliament. This project in Ottawa features custom Draper louver units that are motorized and operate throughout the day, following the location of the sun to keep direct sunlight out of the debating chamber.
- University of Chicago Lab School. A window wall with two breaks made standard shading impossible. Draper’s motorized solution utilized re-directional rollers and side channels.
Of course, there will be more projects to talk about, and new products to showcase.
Among the solutions we’ll be exhibiting is the FlexShade® Recharge, a quiet, battery-operated shade with rechargeable batteries. The Recharge is ideal for flexible installations and can be installed in a variety of places, including larger window openings. Available up to 12 feet wide, the FlexShade Recharge features simple installation, similar to a manual window shade. The batteries last longer and are more powerful than those in other systems, and with no external battery wand, extra space isn’t required for the batteries. With long-lasting charges, the FlexShade Recharge battery is hidden safely inside the roller tube and can be recharged from a 110V outlet or an optional solar panel. FlexShade Recharge is quiet and provides users with a reliable, versatile motorized shade without the additional wiring.
Our redesigned exterior FlexShade® ZIP™ system will also be there, holding its own in even larger sizes. The ZIP helps control heat and glare, making outdoor space more usable on hot, sunny days. And because the fabric is secured in side channels, the units are very wind resistant, and keep insects out. With the addition of XL sizes, the ZIP can now be up to 25 feet wide in a single headbox. The redesigned FlexShade ZIP is easier to install thanks to a single pin lock on the idler to allow easier removal and installation of the roller in the brackets. There are also more mounting options. The ZIP headbox can be supported by the channels or mounting brackets, depending on the style of headbox used.
