2017 was a great year for one of our key ways of communicating with our customers—the Draper blog. Thousands of people read posts about new products, impressive projects, our great people, and more.
The following five posts were our most-read in 2017:
Draper Plans Job Fair for January
Our most-read and shared blog post of 2017 provided information on Draper’s plans to add more employees in 2018. Our recent significant growth means we need more great employees in 2018! Applications for production positions can be filled out online or during an open house/job fair on Saturday, January 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. At that time we’ll also accept applications for office clerical, professional, technical, and sales positions, although we don’t anticipate hiring for those areas until possibly later in the year. Draper, Phifer, and Mermet-Partners in American Manufacturing
Competitors in all of our markets have been moving manufacturing out of the country, and this year one even replaced the US-woven fabrics in their product line with an emphasis on fabrics woven in Asia. In this post, we explored the similarities between Draper and Phifer, and explained why we will continue working with them to provide our Spiceland-made products with American-woven fabrics.
Draper Announces Rebranding, Focuses on Innovation
Draper took a major step forward in 2017 with a rebranding that turns the focus on innovation. Draper had changed and evolved over the years, and we decided it was time for our brand to catch up. A new look, a new website, and a new logo were all introduced, along with a new tagline: focused on innovative solutions. As marketing manager Penny Sitler said in her blog post announcing the endeavor, “After 115 years in business, we think the best is yet to come.” It looks like she was right. At that point we could say 2016 was our biggest and best year ever. Now, we can’t. 2017 has taken that spot!
Draper President Receives Spirit of Caring Award
In addition to the accomplishments of 2017 lead by company president John Pidgeon, there was a very personal achievement for him. John received the Henry County Indiana United Fund’s annual Spirit of Giving Award, which provides support for many local charity agencies. John has spent many years volunteering for local organizations, as have many of our employees. Click here to read more about the award and Draper’s history.
