Continuing education is important for integrators in the residential market. Not only does it keep you up to date on the latest trends and technologies, but it can also give you an edge over competitors.

Draper offers three courses to help you earn CEDIA continuing education credits:

Shade Fabric Selection: A Performance-Based Approach
Traditionally, shade fabric selection has been mostly made with sole attention on interior design. But with more precise manufacturing of shade fabrics and the development of testing and modeling capabilities, performance capabilities and specifications should be used to determine fabric choice.

This class explores performance factors including visible light transmission (VLT), absorption, reflection, scattering, and emissivity, and how they affect views and daylighting. It is these and other performance factors, and not simply design, which should play the major role in shade fabric selection.

Outdoor Living
Over the past couple of years, the perceived value of outdoor spaces has skyrocketed, with more people than ever before making outside upgrades during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to people spending more time in their own outdoor areas, more of us are becoming aware of the benefits of being outside.

Despite the increased desire to spend more time outdoors, there are issues such as glare and heat gain which create uncomfortable conditions and make outdoor living less appealing. This course discusses the opportunity this presents for outdoor shades, and the solutions that work best.

Residential Projection Design
There are many variables to consider in selecting or specifying a projection screen. In previous years, the same white projection screen material would be specified in nearly all situations. Today’s technology has created solutions to address issues in each individual projection environment. This course provides an understanding of the issues affecting projected light, and solutions for dealing with them.
