TecVision, our premium line of high-performance viewing surfaces, was created to allow us to bring projection into more spaces than ever before. And with 11 different formulations, you’ll find a TecVision viewing surface for just about any application.
Which TecVision surface is right for your application? We’ve developed a short series of blog posts to help you decide which best suits your project.
In part 1, we’re looking at two surfaces that are the closest to perfect, at least in applications without ambient light: our white reference screens.
XT1000X White
Characteristics:
- 1.0 gain, reference grade matte white
- Maximum uniformity
- Ultra smooth surface
- Wide off axis viewing
- No hotspotting
Applications:
- Use in low light
- Ultra Short Throw Projection
- Screening rooms
- Post-production
- Dedicated film viewing
“We selected this material because of its uniformity, smooth surface, and wide viewing angles,” said Kevin Amaratunga, Scalable’s VP of engineering, after using this surface in a Computer Aided Virtual Environment (CAVE). “Those three traits are very important for ultra-short throw projection. We don’t see any hotspotting or uniformity issues with the image quality.”

What Steve says:
“TecVision XT1000X White can be used at any throw distance, and it produces a perfect image when the room is completely dark. TecVision XT1100X White performs very similarly to XT1000X. It can also be used at any throw distance without hotspotting. It also gives you a slight bump in gain, but it should still be used in a nearly dark room.” -Steve Cook, AV Consultant Relations Manager.
