Time is money in the professional AV world. And a fairly simple way to save money and impact the bottom line is to maximize your time on LED videowall installations, where the complexity can lead to extended installation and adjustment times. Enter the Draper® Foundation® – the LED mounting structure system that cuts the complexity down to size and gives you back time.
Here are five ways the Foundation returns extra time to your week and directly impacts your bottom line:
Precision and alignment
One of the greatest advantages of LED is the ability to create a seamless, immersive experience. In order to assess a support structure’s ability to help create the seamless look, consider precision vs adjustability.
Having a structure with the adjustability to achieve precise alignment is a good start. However, if the structure isn’t adjusted properly or by using exactly the right process, alignment can take a lot of time and still not provide a seamless image.
A high level of precision in design and manufacturing is required of any LED video wall structure. This is especially true when the wall is made up of narrow pixel pitch (NPP) displays. The very tight pixel spacings—2.5 mm and below—create a higher quality image, so tight tolerances on the structure are imperative.

Horizontal Rails
When compared with other wall mounts, the Foundation provides a more rigid and easier-to-install solution, and the horizontal rail is at the heart of that strength. The Foundation horizonal support rail is designed to be very stiff to prevent longitudinal flexing or bending. This rigidity helps simplify the installation process and ensure longevity of the LED display’s alignment.
Competitive products utilize either a much smaller aluminum extrusion or stamped sheet metal. Both of these approaches are more prone to flexing, especially on larger display arrays. Dealing with this flex increases the difficulty of installation and adds time to the process.
In addition, precision Z-axis alignment of the horizonal rails is built into the wall mounting bracket. This is another key to simplifying the installation process and provides the highest z-axis precision possible.

Z-Axis Adjustment
The Foundation mount is designed to provide a perfectly flat surface for mounting an array of LED cabinets. The mounting brackets are designed with precision z-axis adjustments that can be used to eliminate the inconsistencies of the wall flatness and instead converting it to that perfectly flat surface required for proper LED installation.

Alignment Fixture
To help the installers properly space the LED panels between the vertical rails Draper provides an alignment fixture with each Foundation. The alignment fixture sets the spacing between the vertical rails while ensuring they are all level and square.
Precision fitment is key to the success of the installer and ensures a perfect looking display time after time. The supplied alignment fixtures ensure perfect parallel placement and squareness of the vertical mounting rails. The rows of LED panels can then be easily installed with no misalignment issues.
Site Access
Even though LED mounts ship unassembled, it can be difficult to get the various pieces into the building. Larger video walls may not even fit in a service elevator. Foundation is designed to avoid this issue.
Whatever the size of the array, all Foundation component parts are designed to fit through doorways, around corners in hallways, and onto elevators. Even the longest parts in the system are specifically designed to be easily transported, configured, and assembled while maintaining a high level of precision.
