Draper has updated its Freight terms and Conditions to include the possibility of accessorial fees being added.

Freight companies may apply accessorial fees based on delivery site conditions. Because this charge is determined by the carrier and assessed at the time of delivery it is not included in freight quotes and not waivable by Draper.

Reasons for additional accessorial fees include:

  • Construction Site Delivery: This occurs when the freight carrier is requested or required to make pickup or delivery at a construction site.
  • Detention: This is when a carrier is delayed beyond the allotted free time for loading or unloading at the shipper or consignee location.
  • Lift Gate Service: This fee may be charged if the delivery location does not have a dock or forklift available, and the carrier must use a lift gate to lower the freight to ground level.
  • Forklift/Flatbed Service: Assessed when special equipment, such as a forklift or flatbed truck, is required to complete delivery.
  • Inside Delivery: A carrier charges this when freight must be moved beyond the threshold of the delivery location, such as into a building, room, or specific area.
  • Driver Assist: This fee covers when a carrier’s driver is required to help with unloading or moving freight beyond standard curbside delivery.
  • Residential Delivery: If freight is delivered to a home or residence, it may require special handling or equipment, which is covered by this fee.
  • Limited Access Delivery: Added when the destination is difficult for carriers to access. This includes schools, churches, military bases, or gated communities.
  • Appointment Delivery: An additional fee is charged when a specific delivery time must be scheduled and confirmed with the consignee.

Accessorial charges will be invoiced to your account within 5 business days.
