Engagement, retention, and collaboration are important factors in a successful higher education experience. And there is perhaps no collection of tools more suited to those factors than AV.

But one single tool is not enough to cover the array of requirements to advance the higher education experience. That’s why we offer a range of viewing surfaces and mounting solutions — to maximize the learning and engagement experience across campus.

Here are five examples of higher ed projects where Draper solutions provide an enhanced educational experience through a rigorous application of AV science.

Frost Institute of Chemistry and Molecular Science at University of Miami

University officials needed to share different information to two different audiences at this public space. The custom LED support structure was designed with two different viewing angles, so audiences inside and outside the space could properly view and engage with the content. The structure supports two 10×10 Arrays of Planar TVF Series LED Panels.

Arizona State University Health Futures Center

These four curved videowalls are placed on the upper level of a two-story circular lecture hall, with no floor support available. The Draper structure needed to provide proper load-bearing support where none was available, and enough adjustability to overcome differences between the architect’s plans and the final dimensions. The project featured Planar TVF Series 2.5 LED panels.

University of Houston, Clear Lake, Texas

The University of Houston-Clear Lake needed to upgrade projection screens in 38 classrooms where ambient light was an issue. The Draper Acumen V provides the flexibility needed for different mounting requirements. TecVision XH900X ALR viewing surfaces reject ambient light, even for students in the rows furthest from the screen.

Often the best AV solution also involves motorized shading to control ambient light or provide privacy. Dual Motorized FlexShade® Window Shades with Phifer® SheerWeave® 7500 Dune & Mermet E Screen™ 3% White do both. Meanwhile, motorized rear projection and ambient light-rejecting fixed screens provide the image performance needed.

Fordham University

Not only did this project require multiple projection solutions to meet different installation conditions, it also needed multiple ALR solutions because of varying light levels. Motorized screens and lifts with TecVision® XH900X ALR and TecVision® CS1200X ALR viewing surfaces provided experiences tailored to classroom and public spaces,
