Have you ever thought about what it would be like to be behind the wheel at the Indy 500, heading down the straightaway toward turn 1? Or atop the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s famous pagoda, looking up at the pre-race flyover?

You can get just about as close as possible to those experiences, thanks to Draper, Absen, and a recently completed renovation project at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum.

“Before, we were not very technologically advanced. We didn’t have a whole lot of interactive elements. It really was just a place to come and view and look at cars,” said Mandy Bender, Vice President of Operations for the IMS Museum. “We really wanted to provide guests the experience of what it’s like to be on the grid, that immersive experience of what that morning feels like.”

To accomplish that goal, the museum partnered with LED manufacturer Absen, Inc., and Draper on a fantastic immersive video display that brings you right onto the track amid the revving engines and roaring fans.

We worked with the speedway museum, Absen, Inc., and other partners on a short, exciting video about the project. Check it out here!
