Purdue Practice Facility

Purdue Practice Facility

Since this is the opening day of the NCAA tournament, it is a good time to reflect on some of our interesting basketball projects this season.

We have had the good fortune recently to secure large gym equipment orders from both of Indiana’s Big Ten universities. Indiana and Purdue have both built new varsity basketball practice facilities, and have equipped them with Draper basketball backstops, wall pads and other products.

We also did a nice job recently much closer to home. Tri High School is Draper’s home court, drawing students from Spiceland as well as the neighboring small towns of Ogden, Dunreith, Lewisville, Straughn and New Lisbon. Their gym equipment, installed when the school was built in 1969, was well past its prime.

Draper donated new gym equipment – six basketball backstops, one gym divider and one practice cage – to the school corporation, and participated in its installation. Sixteen Tri graduates who are now Draper gym equipment employees were  involved.  In the future gym equipment dealers who come to Draper for training will be able to visit the Tri gym and see our products in action.

John Eaton, our Basketball Backstop Department Head, graduated from Tri in 1981.  His son Chris, a 2005 Tri graduate and a Draper summer employee, is studying at Purdue to be an athletic trainer, and has been spending a lot of time in Purdue’s new practice facility this winter.
