2014 was a good year for the FlexLouver Rack Arm System—part of Draper’s line of Solar Control Products.

First, in the November issue of Architectural Products, FlexLouver received one of that magazine’s “Innovative Product Awards.”

The competition’s judges said this about the FlexLouver: “This solution is perfect for museums and other facilities where light needs to be directed to or away from specific areas.”

In the December issue of Architectural Record we had more good news. The FlexLouver received one of AR’s prestigious Record Products awards … and was, in fact, named Best in Category under furnishings (although, don’t forget, FlexLouver is a great exterior solution as well).

Here’s what Ginger Gilden, a Senior Project Designer for IA Interior Architects in New York City, and a Record Products judge, said:

“Draper’s FlexLouver is an elegant way to control sunlight without distracting from the perimeter window design. Its customized panel removes restraints of sizes of clearances.”

It’s nice to see Draper’s Solar Control Products getting this kind of recognition, and to start 2015—the Year of Draper—by hanging a new award on the wall. I asked Clint Childress (LEED®AP), Green Buildings Coordinator for Draper, to share his thoughts on what makes the FlexLouver so popular:

“The main draw for this product comes down to one word: flexibility. The Flexlouver has the ability to fit any window shape-circle, trapezoid, triangles, etc. Another big selling point is precision. The slats can rotate in small increments, giving very precise light control. The Flexlouver is an outstanding solution for both hard to cover windows and spaces needing fine tuned sun control. It’s also ideally suited for skylight applications.”

FlexLouver isn’t the only option in our solar control quiver, however. Draper offers a wide range of solutions designed to meet a variety of needs, both inside and outside the glazing.
